AAA was founded by civil rights attorney and author Stephen Roger Elias. It was created as a resource to help those in legal trouble who cannot afford an attorney.
Stephen has written numerous bestselling legal guide books for Nolo Press, including acclaimed self-help books on bankruptcy, foreclosures, wills and trusts.
Steve passed away in December of 2011, leaving behind a broad legacy as an advocate for people's rights, social work, volunteer legal counsel to the poor and as a self-help law pioneer. The business is continued by bankruptcy attorney Mary Heare Amodio, with the assistance of Steve's son Rubin Elias, who both strive to continue putting the law back into the hands of the people.
